Proposed clause 143B allows for owners to request additional inspections. Previously this initiative had been promoted as a way of allowing owners to be more involved with the construction of their home. The current government blurb refers to the ability of the owner to request additional non-mandatory inspections.
The clause as written appears to apply to all classes of building and indicates the certifier must carry out the requested additional inspections. What are some examples of what is considered to be additional non-mandatory inspections for class 2 to 9 buildings. If the requested inspection is about a matter that extends beyond the expertise of the certifier is a 'competent person' still able to carry out that inspection.
